COURSE OVERVIEW

The Transorbital Neuroendoscopic Surgery (TONES) Course introduces participants to the emerging field of minimally invasive transorbital approaches to the skull base and intracranial compartments.

This course provides an overview of the anatomical principles, surgical indications, and operative techniques involved in transorbital neuroendoscopic surgery. Through focused lectures and cadaveric dissection, participants will gain a deeper understanding of orbital and skull base anatomy and the role of transorbital approaches in managing selected skull base pathologies.

Participants will learn surgical access corridors through the orbit and gain hands-on experience performing key steps under expert guidance.

OBJECTIVES

The course aims to:

  • introduce the concept and indications of transorbital neuroendoscopic surgery

  • review the orbital and skull base anatomy relevant to transorbital approaches

  • demonstrate surgical techniques for accessing skull base compartments via transorbital corridors

  • provide hands-on experience with transorbital endoscopic dissection

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • understand the anatomical basis of transorbital surgical corridors

  • identify key orbital and skull base landmarks

  • describe the indications and limitations of transorbital neuroendoscopic approaches

  • perform basic steps of transorbital endoscopic dissection

  • appreciate the multidisciplinary collaboration between ENT surgeons, neurosurgeons, and ophthalmologists

SUITABLE FOR

  • ENT surgeons with an interest in skull base surgery

  • Neurosurgeons interested in endoscopic skull base approaches

  • Fellows and trainees in otolaryngology or neurosurgery

  • Surgeons exploring minimally invasive skull base techniques

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Introduction to transorbital neuroendoscopic surgery techniques

  • Lectures covering orbital and skull base anatomy

  • Cadaveric dissection of transorbital surgical corridors

  • Exposure to multidisciplinary skull base surgical strategies

  • Supervision by experienced skull base faculty
