COURSE OVERVIEW

The Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) Course is a comprehensive programme designed to provide participants with a strong foundation in modern endoscopic sinus surgery. The course combines focused lectures with extensive hands-on cadaveric dissection to enhance both anatomical understanding and surgical skills.

Participants will learn the principles of safe endoscopic sinus surgery, including surgical anatomy, instrumentation, operative techniques, and management of common sinonasal diseases. Through supervised dissection sessions, participants will gain practical experience performing key procedures using endoscopic techniques.

Guided by experienced faculty, the course emphasises surgical safety, anatomical orientation, and evidence-based approaches to the management of sinonasal disorders.

OBJECTIVES

The course aims to:

  • review the surgical anatomy of the nose and paranasal sinuses relevant to endoscopic sinus surgery

  • introduce the principles and instrumentation used in FESS

  • discuss indications and surgical approaches for the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis and sinonasal pathology

  • demonstrate safe techniques for performing key endoscopic sinus procedures

  • provide hands-on training through supervised cadaveric dissection

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • identify key anatomical landmarks in the sinonasal cavity and skull base

  • understand the principles of safe endoscopic sinus surgery

  • perform core procedures including uncinectomy, maxillary antrostomy, ethmoidectomy, and sphenoidotomy

  • apply surgical strategies for the management of chronic rhinosinusitis and sinonasal disease

  • recognise potential complications and strategies for complication avoidance

SUITABLE FOR

  • ENT residents and trainees

  • Otolaryngology fellows

  • Practising ENT surgeons seeking to enhance their endoscopic sinus surgery skills

  • Surgeons interested in expanding their endoscopic skull base surgery foundation

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Expert-led lectures on FESS principles and anatomy

  • Extensive hands-on cadaveric dissection sessions

  • Training in key endoscopic sinus procedures

  • Guidance from experienced local and international faculty

  • Emphasis on surgical safety and anatomical orientation
