Maria V. Suurna, MD, FACS, is a Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Director of Sleep Surgery at the University of Miami Health System and adjunct faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Suurna earned her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She is board-certified in Otolaryngology and subspecialty board certified in Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Suurna is an internationally recognized expert in sleep surgery, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Her expertise includes advanced surgical treatments, with a particular focus on neurostimulation therapies. She has contributed to the field by publishing textbooks, textbook chapters, and journal articles. Dr. Suurna also serves as a reviewer for specialty journals and frequently lectures nationally and internationally.

Dr. Suurna trains medical students and residents at the University of Miami. She is involved in many professional societies and has chaired numerous national and international meetings. Dr. Suurna serves on several local and national committees, she is a board member of the International Surgical Sleep Society and is the coordinator for International Affairs at the American Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
