Seh Ling is an educator at Singapore Institute of Technology, teaching in the Speech and Language Therapy undergraduate degree programme. She received her doctorate in the area of dysphagia from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, under Professor Maggie-Lee Huckabee. In her time there, she was part of the team running dysphagia and Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing workshops at The Rose Centre for Stroke Recovery and Research. It was through her PhD that she also acquired expertise in conventional and high-resolution manometry and started a clinical high-resolution pharyngeal manometry (HRPM) service for patients with dysphagia at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 2019.
She remains a practising speech therapist part-time at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where she has worked for more than a decade. She continues to perform and provide clinical supervision and training in advanced dysphagia assessments like HRPM, FEES and Videofluoroscopic swallowing studies (VFSS). Besides advanced dysphagia assessment, her clinical and research interests also include dysphagia rehabilitation through effective use of biofeedback tools and have in recent years expanded into exploring the use of transitional foods in dysphagia management.
